Training & Certification
Six short lessons on how Membership HQ works, then an 8-question check. Pass and your certification is recorded — so the council knows who's ready to run with the tool.
The lessons
Say the obvious thing first: you are a volunteer and your plate is full. Nothing here asks you to recruit differently. Across a month of listening to units, the finding was that we don't have a lead problem — we have a follow-up problem. Families raise their hand at a school event and the name ends up on a napkin. This captures every inquiry, replies to the family within minutes automatically, and keeps following up until they join or opt out. The flyer that took an hour takes sixty seconds; the emails are already written. Spend the time you get back on the program itself — a unit that runs a great meeting keeps the families it recruits, and has a far smaller number to chase next year.
See the plays for your unitCharter Command tracks the four conditional-charter benchmarks live — growth to +1.5% by Oct 1, 65% retention, 4 new units, the committee — with run-rate math ('need N joins/week'). Every number cites its source report and date at the bottom of the page. If you quote a number in a meeting, this is where it comes from.
Open the dashboardThe Unit Directory flags units needing help (worst first) and gives each one prioritized plays — what to do this week, why it works, and the button that does it. The Recruitment Pace card shows the unit's required joins per year/quarter/month, computed from council retention actuals or the unit's own trend — click 'How this was computed' to see the arithmetic.
Open the Unit DirectoryAdmins update a unit's join event, meeting time, and checklist right on its page ('Edit unit details') — saves apply instantly to the tracker and dashboard. On School Access, log every outreach (date, who, how, response) with the Log Outreach button and assign a key rep to every school. Official monthly membership counts still come from uploaded my.Scouting reports — that's the one thing uploads are for, and uploading requires an admin account.
Open School AccessFill in your unit once: print-ready QR posters and car signs (Save as PDF, print at 100%), social posts, a 3-email welcome sequence, principal letters, and retention call scripts — each says when to use it and why it works. The QR codes point to your unit's public join page, where family inquiries become leads.
Open the ToolkitFamilies who inquire land in the Leads Inbox. The unit's contact gets the lead by email with a 24-hour expectation; untouched leads trigger a reminder at 24h and a staff escalation at 72h — every send is logged. Military families are flagged (their $85 national fee is waived in 2026). The single biggest conversion factor is same-day response.
